December 6, 1888 - First football win
After playing the first three games against Michigan (and losing every one of them), Notre Dame faced a new opponent. Harvard Prep. With the score being 20-0, Notre Dame recorded both its first win and first shutout in the same game. Through the first two years, Notre Dame compiled a 1-3 record. The three losses all came against Michigan by a combined score of ND 9 UM 44.
This game was played at home and would be the latest in the year a game would be played at Notre Dame.
